A tiny parasite known as the Eastern Paralysis tick is wreaking havoc across Australia, triggering a potentially fatal condition called mammalian meat allergy (MMA) or Alpha-gal syndrome. Following the tragic and preventable death of a 16-year-old boy, experts are issuing warnings about the rising threat of this illness.

A seemingly harmless campfire meal of sausages and toasted marshmallows turned into a fatal medical emergency for 16-year-old Jeremy Webb. Despite the heroic CPR efforts of his friends, Jeremy tragically passed away at the hospital, leaving his heartbroken father and mother to grieve their son’s death.
