Kirstin Bokor is the Librarian for Helensburgh Library. A small community library that sits on the edge of a National Park along the south coast of NSW. Given the close connection to the bushland, she thought it made good sense to design a display area near the library’s front door to educate community members by providing information about Alpha-Gal Syndrome and tick awareness along with their collection of bushwalking guides.
Educating the community about correct tick-bite removal and effective prevention is especially important in an area where people regularly spend time outdoors. Clear, accessible information can help reduce the risk of tick-related illnesses and ensure that visitors know what to do if they are bitten.
To support this, Kirstin also added the Tick Removal poster with its QR code linking to further guidance. The community display provides people with quick, research based, up-to-date instructions when they need them.
Thank you from TiARA to Kirstin and her team at the Helensburgh Library for their assistance in helping to keep their community and visitor TICK SAFE!
